Organizing Your Production: Empowerment through Collective Bargaining
Nov 21, 2023

Dear Fellow Film Technicians,

Are you currently working on a production in Florida without the benefits of a collective bargaining agreement? Would you like the support of IATSE Local 477 in securing one? You're in the right place!

How Can We Assist You?

We understand that working conditions, wages, and benefits are crucial concerns for all film industry professionals. Securing a collective bargaining agreement can make a significant difference in your working life. We're here to guide you through the process.

The First Step: Authorization for Representation

To begin the journey towards improved working conditions and job security, you'll need to grant IATSE Local 477 the authority to negotiate on your behalf. This is done through an "Authorization for Representation."

Please download the fillable authorization form here: Authorization for Representation Form (Fillable PDF)

Rest assured, this form will never be shared with your production company. Only our union and, if necessary, representatives from the National Labor Relations Board will have access to this confidential information.

How to Submit Your Authorization for Representation Form

You have multiple options for submitting your completed form:

  1. Electronically: Complete the fillable PDF electronically and save it. Then, email it to our Business Manager, Jim Roberts, at jroberts477.bm@gmail.com.
  2. Scanning: If you prefer to fill out a printed copy, you can scan or photograph your completed form and email it to the same address.
  3. By Mail: If you choose to print the form, you can send it to the following address:

IATSE Local 477
4101 Ravenswood Road, Suite 108-109
Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33312

Please be sure to include a note with your contact information, including the best way to reach you and the most convenient times for contact.

While you have the option to mail in your completed form, please note that this method is slower than using email. In the fast-paced world of film production, time is critical. The sooner we receive your authorization, the sooner we can begin the process of negotiating on your behalf.

Questions or Concerns?

If you have any questions or concerns after reviewing the document or need assistance with the fillable PDF, please feel free to contact our Business Manager, Jim Roberts, at 407/468-6399 or via email at jroberts477.bm@gmail.com. For additional inquiries or assistance, please reach out to our President, Chris Ranung, at 904/806-6369 or via email at chrisranung@ia477.org. All communications will be kept strictly confidential.

What Happens Next?

Once we receive your Authorization for Representation, we will begin the process of negotiating with your current or future employer to secure better working conditions and benefits for you and your fellow crew members.

Remember, your voice matters, and together, we can make a difference. Thank you for taking this important step toward a brighter future in the film industry.

Sincerely,

Local 477
